This is roughly a blog of travel, awareness, activism, and the beauty the world has to offer.
The name of Oh, Medusa came from the equally fascinating and tragic myth of Medusa. Which can be watched here. In short she was once a beautiful girl, envied by all and wanted by every man in Greece. However, she could never get married for she was a priestess of Athena and thus bound to a vow of chastity. She was raped by Poseidon inside Athena’s Temple and shunned by the world. Athena was furious with Medusa and not Poseidon for this is typical for a male God and thus cursed her into the monster the world is so familiar with today- damned into a life of isolation with only those she turned to stone and her head of snakes for company. A women who started out as a symbol of purity and perfection was soon the infamous face of evil. A story that I find understated and a tale of the misunderstood; similar to what is seen on this blog. Whether it be the beauty of the world around us, the magic in it, or the current situations at hand that need action; all have their links to the myth. Her name meant Guardian, a trait that is associated with activism and change. Not to mention I always wanted to name something after Medusa and my growing fascination with her and mythology.
